eXXpedition Beach Clean Up

To help alleviate the trash pile up, Global Shaper Kemba Jaramogi initiated a beach clean up in response to a call from eXXpedition, an all-female mission sailing the world to monitor and communicate
on the issue of plastic toxins in oceans across the world.

eXXpedition Beach Clean Up

Community volunteers and members from the Fondes Amandes Community Reforestation Project, IAMovement and Plastikeep joined Kemba and fellow Global Shapers Jonathan Barcant, Nakita Poon Kong, and Sarah de Freitas for the beach clean-up on Saturday February 20, 2016. Over 50 bags of trash were collected from the beach by the 25 volunteers.

eXXpedition Beach Clean Up

The health of the Chaguaramas coast is a priority due to its prominence as a major recreational area for families, ocean athletes and party-goers alike, and the fact that it is an important economic resource for fishermen in the area. However the shoreline is often deluged with ocean trash due to the flow of various ocean currents, rivers and tributaries from other water sources that flow into the Bay.
